As a certified Oh My Mahjong Instructor, I help you host private Mahjong parties designed to be fun, stylish, and completely approachable—whether you and your guests are brand new or already know the basics. Mahjong 101
Perfect for beginners! We cover the basics — tiles, terms, dealing, strategy, and rules set by the National Mahjong League. Learn with boutique tiles, mats, and tile guides. We’ll get you playing by the end of the lesson. You’ll go home with resources to continue learning on your own.
Mahjong 102
Great for reinforcing what you’ve learned. Review the basics, learn how to deal, and practice The Charleston. Build hands using strategy and defensive thinking. Play two full hands with boutique tiles, mats, and tile guides. Enjoy real-time guidance and coaching. End with a Q & A session and more resources.
Guided Play
Real games played with boutique tiles, mats, and tile guides. Play with guided dealing, Charleston, and strategy. Focus on Mahjong etiquette, appropriate pace of play, and “house rules". The perfect way to get you fully immersed in your new favorite hobby.
Custom Event
What do you have in mind? We can work together to create a beautifully tailored Mahjong event featuring boutique tiles, mats, accessories, and custom printed handouts.

Meet Christie
Hi, I’m Christie Dyer, founder of Mountain Mermaid Mahjong.
A Florida transplant who has called Colorado home for the past 10 years, I bring a unique blend of coastal and mountain spirit to everything I do. With a background in education and certifications in both Social Studies and Art, I’ve always been drawn to experiences that combine history, creativity, and connection—everything that makes Mahjong so special.
I was first introduced to Mahjong through my tennis instructor and teammates, and it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the game. From its rich origins to its strategic play and beautiful design, Mahjong quickly became a passion I couldn’t wait to share.
That passion deepened when I discovered boutique Mahjong lines. I was instantly captivated by the elegance, color, and creativity of the tiles and accessories. Today, as a certified Oh My Mahjong Instructor, I’m proud to represent a brand that brings beauty and joy to the game.
Through Mountain Mermaid Mahjong, my goal is to create a fun, welcoming, and slightly whimsical space where people can learn, laugh, and build community. Whether you’re brand new or ready to refine your skills, I’m here to help you feel confident, connected, and excited to play.

Your Questions, Answered
How do I get started on my Mahjong journey?
After you reach out, we’ll get you scheduled for Mahjong 101, Mahjong 102, Guided Play, or a Custom Event. You’ll pick the location for your event. I can come to your home, club, office, etc. All sessions are 2.5 hours long unless otherwise agreed upon. I’ve got you covered with everything you’ll need for mahjong magic — tiles, mats, racks, cards, and handouts. All you need is a seating setup and friends to share your journey with.
What are your payment terms?
All lessons (Mahjong 101 and 102) are $60 per person per lesson. Guided play is $35 per person per session. I offer a 20% off discount for 2 or more lessons/sessions booked at the same time. The hostess receives complimentary lessons/sessions when booking a group of 8 or more. Payment is due at time of booking. The date is not locked in until payment is received. I do not offer refunds, however, I am happy to help reschedule if life gets in the way. Please let me know of any conflicts within 48 hours. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice cannot be moved or refunded. Payments can be made via Venmo or Zelle.
How many people can you accommodate in a lesson/session?
I believe it’s best to keep lessons small for learning purposes. 3-8 people is an ideal amount for lessons. 4-12 people is ideal for guided play. I can currently accommodate up to 20 people for a custom event such as open play.
